Who We Are

Hi, I am Kushaangi, the founder of Sieva. I am a trauma-informed psychotherapist, practicing psychodynamic therapy, a meditation guide, and a sports performance consultant.

I warmly welcome you. Thank you for being here.

After working in NGOs, clinical settings, and hospitals, I learned to conduct virtual therapy sessions through the pandemic. So far, I’ve conducted over 5,000 hours of 1:1 therapy and couples therapy. I’ve guided at least a thousand people through meditations.
This taught me a vital lesson. We all suffer. Our thoughts and emotions are powerful indicators of how our mind and body interpret the world. I see men suffering in silence for generations. They are emotionally numbed and muted. In India, one in seven men experiences depression, with suicide being the second leading cause of death among young men aged 15–29. Heart attacks are also rising, with a 2023 study showing a 2% annual increase in young adults due to stress and lifestyle factors. Women suffer in shame and suppression. The National Mental Health Survey (2015–16) reports one in 20 Indian women faces depression, with women having twice the global suicide rate for their gender. The queer community fights for recognition and safety. A 2021 study in Karnataka found 30–40% of gender-diverse individuals reported depression, with suicide attempts significantly higher than the general population. This tells us: mental health is a systemic issue. It’s also about poorly learned ways of coping with self and others.

In addition, I observed the mental health system closely. Overworked, underpaid therapists hold the wave of a mental health epidemic with all their might. They still do. So do I.

This personal experience is what birthed the idea of Sieva. Sieva comes from Seva (to serve) and Siva (transformation and evolution). Sieva is my attempt to join the fight against the mental health epidemic.

At Sieva, we do two things. First, we provide culturally relevant, evidence-based psychotherapy and counseling. For example, along with talk therapy, we use breath work and somatic practices, drawing from Indian traditions like pranayama, to help you reconnect with your body . Second, we connect you with the right professionals if your needs go beyond therapy. Each of us must learn the conditions where we thrive. We must accept what we can’t control and develop wisdom and patience to change what we can.

If you’re ready to journey from self-awareness to self-actualization, if you’re ready to be a compassionate, powerful member of society, I look forward to seeing you. Book your session now!
